What have you done to invest in your blog?
Do you regularly read sites with content on how to improve your blog? (Like this one, perhaps?) Have you ever taken a blogging course or worked with a coach to help you out?
And if not, would you?
If you’re serious about turning your blog into a full-time business, it’s worth finding smart ways to invest in your blog. Making the right investments in your success will help you take your blog to the next level.
But the good news is, you don’t always have to make monetary investments. Sometimes you just need to make an investment of your time to see major results. And today, I’m going to share six ways to invest in your blog so you can finally achieve the success you’ve been waiting for.
6 Ways to Invest in Your Blog
When you invest time and money into your blog, you will reap the rewards. Invest in your blog to create better content, to grow your audience, and to start making money. And the best part? When you put certain resources to use, it’s likely your blog will grow even faster than it would have otherwise!
Here are the six tips you can use:
1. Make Sure Your Site Runs Great
First, if you want to take your blog seriously, you need to make sure it’s running smoothly. You can’t be dealing with a website that’s constantly crashing or loading slowly. Your readers won’t appreciate it.
For those of you on WordPress, pay for self-hosting. It gives you full control of who you choose to keep your site running. Personally, I love DreamHost and I also rely on the Genesis Framework for an added boost. Both have served me well over the years.
2. Get a Professional Design
Instead of trying to DIY your logo, you should consider hiring a professional designer to take on the task. Although, I will admit that I’ve attempted to DIY my logos in the past. But considering my lack of design skills, they never looked great. Working with a designer, like my favorite Kory Woodard, ensures you have a professional, high-quality look.
And because we do judge a website based on its looks, you’d be smart to invest in a great web design as well. You can choose a pre-made theme that you customize to your liking. Or you can choose to hire a designer for something that’s truly custom and unique to you. It all depends on your budget, but either can be great!
For me, I love using pre-made themes for the Genesis Framework because they don’t break the bank. Plus, they still deliver a great look. Restored 316 Designs has been my go-to over the years.
3. Get the Tools You Need to be a Better Blogger
In many cases, one of the best ways to invest in your blog is to purchase quality tools to help you get the job done. Depending on what your blogging tasks require, you might need a new camera or a subscription to Photoshop. You may also need an email service like Seva (formerly ConvertKit) or a client on-boarding tool like Dubsado.
When it comes to building a business, sometimes you have to spend money to make money. And you can’t be afraid to make the investments that are going to help you do your best work. Think about what would make your job easier and start saving up some money to help you make those big purchases.
4. Purchase an Book or an Online Course
By signing up for an e-course or reading a book that’s full of tips, you can really expand your knowledge. Not only that, but the tips you learn could be the ticket to creating better content and growing your audience. You’ll be on the fast track to success with a little guidance!
And I may be biased, but Blogging Bombshell is a fantastic course to teach you the three pillars of successful blogging. But there are tons of courses out there that serve as an amazing way to invest in your blog. You just have to search for the right opportunities for you.
5. Take Advantage of One-on-One Coaching
If you want advice that’s tailored to you, consider investing in private coaching. Working with someone who has been there and done that is the perfect opportunity to get strategies for your needs. Instead of consuming one-size-fits-all advice, everything is based around you and your blog.
In my opinion, this is one of the best ways to invest in your blog. You’re able to ask all the questions that have been on your mind. And you can walk away with an action plan that’s design to get you the specific results you’re after. That’s exactly what I offer with my own coaching packages.
6. Treat Your Blog Like a Business
I’ve previously written about why you should treat your blog like a business, even if it’s not currently making you money. The reason for this is because taking your blog seriously gives you a better chance at seeing success.
After all, if you aren’t serious about your blog, how can you expect anyone else to be? Stay dedicated to your work. Put in the time and effort it takes to create great content and build an audience. In time, you will see the results of all your hard work.
