In the book, Elrod describes the aspects of his morning routine through his acronym: S.A.V.E.R.S. It stands for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing (journaling). All of these steps were put together to create kind of the ultimate morning routine based on what other successful people said they do every morning!
Unfortunately, my distaste for actually getting out of bed in the morning has meant my morning routine is a little less routine and more sporadic. However, I do notice I have a much better day when my routine is practiced. So, I’ve made it my goal to stick to the morning routine Elrod has outlined in his book because I’m determined to make my days even better. Here’s why you should have a morning routine, too:
It creates consistency.
Instead of hitting the snooze every morning, having a morning routine in place will encourage you to wake up at the same time every day. And when you get out of bed, there won’t be any question about what to do first. You’ll go straight into the steps that make up your very own routine.
It may seem like a daunting task to wake up even earlier than you normally do in order to make this time for your new schedule, but it will get easier. Just remember to go to bed with positive thoughts, believing that you will wake up feeling refreshed no matter how many or how few hours of sleep you’ve gotten. Plus, you should create a morning routine that lights you up and leaves you feeling excited to follow it every day. If you’re dreading your routine it won’t do you any good!
It’ll allow you time for yourself.
Do you find that you’re always doing so much for other people, but not enough for yourself? Taking care of yourself is important if you want to live a happy and healthy life. If you create a morning routine that you can stick to, it’ll give you a little bit of time just for you each and every day. Now doesn’t that sound good? This can be your time to relax your body, clear your mind, and reflect on your goals.

It will set you up for a successful day.
Think about it. If you start your day off and you’re still tired and you’re rushing around because you’re running late… Are you likely to have a good day? Probably not. It’s more likely that you’ll be left in a bad mood and be easily irritated about little things throughout the day. Instead, if you take the time to create and follow a morning routine that leaves you feeling refreshed, happy, and energized, you know it’ll be a great day. And if you start off the day on the right foot, don’t you think you’ll also feel more productive and get loads more done? I know I do!
Ask yourself what makes you feel good. What does your perfect morning look like? Incorporate those things into your morning routine each and every day to set yourself up for success.
